Moldovan winners of the European Sambo Cup in Croatia

Seven Moldovan athletes won medals at the European Sambo Cup-2026, which ended in Zupa Dubrovacca (Croatia), Logos Press reported.

Alina Mihai won a bronze medal in the 50 kg weight category, sharing the third step of the podium with Ofek Yom Tov from Israel. The winner in this category was Denitsa Georgieva (Bulgaria), representative of France Sephora Corchet was second.

Irina Florya’s performance in the category up to 54 kg ended with a prize-winning place. She became the sole owner of the bronze medal. Unlike the others, in this weight category the award for the third place was not divided between two athletes. Tania Radulova from Bulgaria took the first place and Julia Rosso from France took the second place.

In the category up to 59 kg, the third step of the podium was taken by two Moldovan sambo wrestlers – Vitalina Tabac and Vera Zorea. They were topped by Ivana Ivanova (Bulgaria) and Snezhana Kufek (Croatia).

In the heaviest weight category among girls – over 80 kg – Evelina Cazacu won the silver medal. She was accompanied on the podium by the winner Eileen Mill (Germany) and bronze medalist Lara Vuksanic (Croatia).

The men’s net of competitions allowed Konstantin Zorya to perform triumphantly, who became the owner of the European Cup in the category up to 71 kg. In the fight for the gold medal he lost to Matan Iglicki (Israel). Yoran Schildermans (Belgium) and Alaa Rastellaca (Italy) won bronze medals.

Stanislav Juhnevici, who shared the third place with Ivan Jelaca (Croatia) in the category up to 88 kg, added another award to the Moldovan national team’s money box. Srdan Aivas (Bosnia and Herzegovina) was on the top step of the podium, while Itay Pashinsky (Israel) took the second place.

More than 250 athletes from 37 countries gathered in the suburb of Dubrovnik on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Sambo wrestlers played for 21 sets of medals.

The European Cup opened the sambo season. This year the European Championship will be held from May 15 to 17 in Tbilisi (Georgia), and the World Championship – from November 6 to 8 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The next major tournament on the sambo calendar is the World Cup, which will be hosted by Yerevan (Armenia) from April 11-12.
