
Ilya Snitsar's participation in ITF tournaments in Romania allowed him to strengthen his position in the world ranking
The pair of Snitari and Roncadelli faced Gianluca Cadenasso and Niccolo Catini in the final of the M25 tournament. The meeting, which lasted one hour and 22 minutes, ended with a 6:4, 6:4 victory for the Moldovan-Uruguayan duo.
The winners did not lose a single set during the tournament – they defeated Italians Leonardo Cattaneo and Lorenzo Rottoli (6:2, 6:4), Matei Cristian Onofrei and Rares Theodore Pieleanu (6:2, 6:2), and in the semifinals – Alexandru Cristian Dumitru and Radu Mihai Papoe (6:3, 6:3). The pairs that Snitzar and Roncadelli faced in the 1/4 and 1/2 finals represent Romania.
The Moldovan tennis player also played in the singles tournament, where he was eliminated in the second round. Like at the Bacau tournament, the 23-year-old Snitari lost to his doubles partner Roncadelli (6:3, 5:7, 4:6).
The prize fund of the M25 tournament in Pitesti amounted to $30 thousand. Ilya Snitsar earned $2.277 ($1.782 – for winning the doubles tournament) and added 26 points (25 – for winning the trophy) to his balance in the ATP ranking. At the time of preparation of the material the world ranking was not updated, last week the athlete rose to 617th line.
Earlier “Logos Press” reported about Snitzer’s victories in two other ITF tournaments held in Romania in July. He won the singles tournament in Slobozia and the doubles tournament in Bacau. The athlete is regularly called up to the Moldovan national team to participate in the Davis Cup.
