Moldovan rugby players became vice-champions of Europe at the home tournament

At the group stage of the tournament “haiduki” defeated opponents from Lithuania, Bulgaria and Cyprus (see the results of the meetings and the final position in the standings). In the semifinals the hosts took on the Cypriot rugby players and won a confident victory over them. The decisive match brought together the national teams of Moldova and Portugal, and the guests from the Iberian Peninsula won the trophy in a hard fight.

Chisinau hosted the continental championship of beach rugby for the second year in a row. Last time the European champion was the Ukrainian men’s national team, which defeated Moldova 3:2 in the final. In total, the arena in La Izvor Park has become the home ground for the tournament three times – the first time the championship was held there in 2021.

Eight men’s beach rugby teams took part in the European Championship.
