Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii stressed at a hearing in parliament that with the increase in budget allocations, the social security of personnel has become a priority.
“Salaries were raised and benefits that were canceled during the 2009 reform were introduced. We are talking about maternity leaves to care for a child up to 3 years for women and men, the right to free travel in public transport on official business, significant improvement in nutrition and provision of military equipment,” the minister emphasized.
Also, according to him, today all soldiers return home in the uniform in which they served. They have also introduced food rations for military personnel serving during the day in training centers and for contractors.
“The largest funds are directed to ensure decent conditions for military conscripts, contractors and civilian employees,” the minister informed.
Our Party deputies recently visited several military units to familiarize themselves with the living conditions of soldiers. Olena Hrytsko inquired about investments in armament.
“We are modernizing infantry weapons: we are replacing Soviet PMs with Glock pistols, Kalashnikov assault rifles with 5.56 mm NATO caliber. This is not a whim, but a necessity, because the equipment is wearing out,” said Nosatii.
Earlier, Alternativa MP Ion Kiku initiated a draft resolution on a vote of no confidence in the defense minister, which was signed by representatives of the other opposition factions. The document is scheduled for consideration at the plenary session of Parliament on Thursday, March 12.
