
This year, it presented books from 23 countries, the BELTA news agency reported. The event attracted about 10,000 visitors daily, which confirms their interest in printed books.
Former Moldovan Ambassador to Belarus Victor Sorochan, chairman of the Belarus-Moldova Friendship Society, noted during the event that the exhibition has long been an event that unites writers, publishers and readers of both countries.
“No electronic format can replace the feeling of a real edition – the smell of printing ink, the opportunity to turn the pages and enjoy reading,” he said.
This year, the Moldovan stand presented works by Ion Drutse and Spiridon Vangheli, as well as the classic Moldovan and Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu and other writers whose works bring Moldovan culture to the world.
The book “Moldovans of Belarus”, published last year, attracted special attention. It details the life of the Moldovan community in Belarus and their organic integration into the Belarusian community.
“These people feel so well here that they almost don’t distinguish where their home is. I am very grateful to the Belarusians for accepting us and our country so warmly,” emphasized Victor Sorochan.
