The aim of the Olympiad is to develop students’ skills not only in creating ICT projects, but also in building complex models of artificial intelligence. Participants will be able to apply their knowledge of mathematics, computer science and AI, develop critical and creative thinking, and learn how to use modern technologies responsibly and ethically. The competition is organized by the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC).
At the national level, teams will consist of up to two high school students and one mentor from an educational institution. Students between the ages of 16 and 19 are invited to participate, including those who have studied artificial intelligence at high school/college and those who have done it on their own.
Participants will develop AI projects that offer concrete solutions to real-world problems in their communities or the environment. They will utilize state-of-the-art technologies, libraries, frameworks, and other tools developed specifically for AI. Teams can submit projects in Romanian, Russian or English. As stated by the MES, all data use must strictly comply with ethical and legal standards, including anonymization.
The competition includes the following stages: team registration by February 10; mentoring sessions from January to May; project submission in May; selection of finalists from May to June; and finals in June.
At the final stage, teams will present their projects to a jury of AI experts, university professors and industry professionals. The National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation (ANCE) will approve the final results.
The winners will represent Moldova at the international AI Olympiad. In addition, the first and second place teams will undergo an intensive training program before the international competition.
