Moldova started to produce airplanes

Two small civil aviation enthusiasts worked over 3,000 hours to complete this project.

The initiative to assemble the airplane in the Republic of Moldova belongs to pilots Sergiu Crețu and Oleg Burlac. After four years of work, the Vans RV-7A airplane is ready and is equipped with the latest equipment in the industry. This aircraft will be designed for amateur flights.

Oleg Burlacu, pilot and aircraft designer said: “This aircraft flies at a cruising speed of more than 320 kilometers per hour at an altitude of more than 3-4 kilometers, with a range of 1,400 kilometers under normal conditions. Accordingly, we can plan a flight from Chisinau to Budapest, or Croatia, or to the eastern coast of Italy”.

The cost of the airplane is about 200,000 euros. It consists of more than 600 parts and has tens of thousands of rivets.

The plane is already registered in the register of small civil aircraft of the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority under the number 001.

Sergiu Cretu said in an interview with Logos Press that the first demonstration flights will take place in October. He added that at present he and his colleague are already assembling the second aircraft – exactly the same, two-seater. And then the third one – already a four-seater – is next in line.

“We want to create an acrobatic air group,” Sergiu Cretu said. – We do not intend to sell our products yet, the first airplane is a historical milestone for Moldovan aviation. However, in the future, if someone is interested, we are ready to assemble them for sale, especially since such small aircrafts are in great demand in Europe”.

The first flight of the airplane assembled in Moldova was watched by members of the Moldovan Government and the President of the country, Maia Sandu.
