Moldova sends new ambassador to Romania

Mihai Mytu will become the new Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania. He is a career diplomat with almost 20 years of experience in the foreign ministry and in foreign missions, including embassies in Sweden, the United States and Romania, where he served as an advisor between 2019 and 2021, Logos Press reported.

He has served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2022, contributing to institutional capacity building, modernization of internal management and digitalization of consular services. He also coordinated the process of organizing the European Political Community Summit held in Moldova in 2023,” the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said on its website.

The previous head of the Moldovan diplomatic mission in Romania, Victor Chirila, was confirmed as Moldovan ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Ukraine.

According to the Law on Diplomatic Service, proposals for the appointment of ambassadors are submitted to the government by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament. The appointment of ambassadors is made by the Moldovan president.
