The discussions focused on security of energy supplies to both countries, development of alternative gas transportation routes, electricity supply and integration of energy markets. The parties emphasized the importance of coordinating cooperation with the EU.
The sides also discussed possible ways to assist Ukraine in supplying electricity from the EU to Moldovan consumers and emphasized the importance of observing ENTSO-E limits so that European countries could supply electricity to Ukraine and Moldova.
Last year, Moldovan authorities decided to create a strategic reserve of 100 million cubic meters of natural gas. This volume was later reduced to 50 million cubic meters due to the need to redirect supplies to commercial markets.
