Parliament adopted the relevant bill in both readings. Currently, our country is a member of the EPC on the basis of the cooperation mechanism, which entered into force in 2015.

With the accession to the Convention, Moldova will be able to participate in the European centralized system of granting patents and will be represented in the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization along with other 39 member states of the organization.

Accession to the EPC is part of Moldova’s European integration process aimed at harmonizing the national intellectual property regime with EU standards and obtaining patent protection in Europe.

The European Patent Convention aims at creating a unified patent system in Europe by establishing a single procedure for granting patents for all member states.

Other objectives of the EPC include simplifying and harmonizing the process of obtaining patent protection in Europe, ensuring the high quality and validity of patents, promoting innovation and technological progress, facilitating access to patent rights on the European market and strengthening cooperation between European states in the field of intellectual property.
