Access to the European budget of 2.44 billion euros opens for Moldova the official accession to the EU program "Creative Europe", - reports Logos Press.

The agreement was signed on September 2 in Chisinau by Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan and European Commissioner for Intergenerational Equality, Youth, Culture and Sport Glenn Micallef. Moldova will be able to benefit from the program’s budget and opportunities from January 1, 2026. Culture and art workers, representatives of creative industries will be able to establish cooperation and plan joint projects with colleagues from European countries within the framework of Creative Europe.

The program will enable domestic cultural organizations to participate on equal terms with organizations of EU member states in cross-border cooperation projects, initiatives aimed at promoting cultural diversity, etc.

Specific benefits of the agreement include access to the European budget allocated to culture, support for translations and promotion of literary works, as well as the opportunity to participate in European networks and platforms, including media. At the same time, our country will be exempted from paying the registration fee. And cities such as Chisinau, Balti, Cahul or Ungheni will be able to apply for the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture, which will ensure international visibility.

To facilitate access to the program, a special office “Creative Europe” will be created in the Republic, which will provide advice and support to applicants in the process of developing and submitting projects.

The creative industries sector today counts more than 2,700 companies and employs more than 10,000 professionals. And has shown steady growth in recent years. Areas such as design, digital media and, in particular, the video games industry, with growth of over 120%, show significant economic potential that will be enhanced by new opportunities.
