Moldova is ahead of Romania in AI implementation

This data is contained in the “Artificial Intelligence Pervasiveness Report: where AI is most used, developed and built” published by Microsoft.

But Moldova is also one of the last places in Europe in terms of this indicator. In our region, we are ahead of Serbia (19.7%), Bulgaria (25.4%) and Hungary (27.9%), while only Albania (15.8%) is lower than Romania.

Microsoft notes that the highest AI adoption rates are observed in the United Arab Emirates (59.4%), Singapore (58.6%), Norway (45.3%) and Ireland (41.7%) – countries that are not traditionally considered centers of AI development.

With over 1.2 billion users in less than 36 months, artificial intelligence has become the fastest adopting technology in human history. The AI adoption map shows a stark contrast between the global North and the global South. AI adoption in the global North is about 23%, compared to just 13% in the global South. Microsoft’s report says that adoption correlates closely with GDP per capita. In some countries in the Northern Hemisphere, more than half of the working population uses AI, while in some countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, some least developed countries have adoption rates below 10%.
