
An increase in the employment rate of women from 47% to 55% and the creation of more than 5,000 new kindergarten places have also been outlined.
The Swiss Government will support the implementation of the program. With its financial support, a new phase of the Productive Employment Project was launched today, together with the Moldovan Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Through this project, the parties will continue their joint efforts to build a sustainable labor market able to respond to the current demographic and economic challenges.
Ensuring equal employment rights for women and men, as well as for vulnerable groups, young people and persons with disabilities is also a priority. In particular, reducing the gender pay gap between women and men, which still stands at around 16%.”
“Through this project, we are helping to overcome the challenges that companies, especially small and medium-sized companies, face in their operations and encouraging the active social dialog necessary for economic stability,” said Valerie Berset Bircher, Swiss Undersecretary of State for Economy (SECO).
Peter Van Roy, ILO Director for Europe and Central Asia, emphasized the role of dialogue between government, trade unions and employers in Moldova’s European integration process.
The project envisages technical and financial assistance from the Swiss government in the process of digitizing the services of the National Employment Agency and the State Labour Inspectorate, as well as stimulating entrepreneurship at the local level, with a special focus on rural areas.
