Moldova increases honey exports

This is an encouraging export indicator, according to the administration of the Moldovan Bee Products Exporters Association AEPA. Usually, the end of winter and spring is considered a period of seasonal decline in sales, its peak in previous years was in the fall and early winter.

In 2024, after three years of decline, Moldova finally increased the volume of honey supplies to foreign markets – up to 4.2 thousand tons. The previous year 2023 was a failure in terms of honey exports – just under 2 thousand tons. On average, in the current five-year period, external supplies of honey from the Republic of Moldova fluctuated within 3-4 thousand tons.

As the chairman of the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM Ion Maxim notes in this regard, “the increase in export supplies last year and their dynamic continuation in the current year is pleasing, but so far we can only state the fact that we have returned to the pre-crisis level of exports. At the same time, the overwhelming share of exports is accounted for the supply of honey in bulk containers. External sales of Moldovan honey in small consumer packaging do not exceed 3-5% of the total commodity mass in physical terms.
