Moldova has simplified the registration of buletina. Not for everyone
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision that goes beyond the legal provisions currently in force. But it will help to eliminate the legal conflict in which some Moldovan citizens find themselves. The exemption will be valid until the beginning of 2028.
The problem is that at the end of last year a new Law on Citizenship came into force in Moldova. According to the new rules, young people can confirm citizenship with a birth certificate only until they come of age. If a young person has not managed to get an internal passport before this moment, and he has already turned 18, then according to the law he would have to go through the procedure of “recognition of citizenship”. This involves submitting various kinds of certificates and passing exams.
Therefore, the authorities have introduced a transitional period for this category of citizens. It assumes that until January 1, 2028, persons over 18 years of age will be able to obtain documents in a simplified procedure, if they meet two conditions: they were born after August 27, 1991 and at the time of birth at least one of their parents was a citizen of Moldova.
At the State Services Agency (ASP), young people will receive a passport without checks and tests on their knowledge of the Romanian language and the Constitution.
