The amount of export shipments in the first four months of this year, compared to the figure for the same period of 2024, decreased by 32%, from 4.4 to 3 billion lei.

The association’s experts note that in the spring months of this year, the tendency of reduction of physical volumes of Moldovan wheat exports became more pronounced. This was partly due to a slight decrease in prices for exported goods (although in general, the price level was higher than the average indicator of the previous season). Thus, in April, the price decreased to 4.09 lei/kg, but nevertheless, it was 24% higher than in April 2024 (3.30 lei/kg).

In total, for the period from July 2024 to April 2025, wheat exports from RM amounted to about 781 thousand tons at an average price of 3.85 lei/kg. During the same period of last season, external deliveries exceeded 1.2 million tons at an average price of 3.58 lei/kg. Accordingly, the physical volume of supplies decreased by 37%, while the price of exported goods increased by 7.5% on average,

The experts of the organization believe that the decline in supplies is largely explained by the reduction of the wheat export resource available to traders, due to a smaller wheat harvest-2024 in RM – about 1-1.1 million tons (compared to 1.55 million tons in 2023).
