Moldova dropped in the ranking of absence of corruption

The Republic of Moldova has dropped 5 positions over the year, from 103rd place in 2024 to 108th place in 2025, according to the new WJP Rule of Law Index 2025, Logos Press reports.

The compiler of the WJP Rule of Law Index is the world’s leading source of original, independent data on the rule of law.

How corruption is measured

A rigorous methodology is based on surveys of experts and households to assess the absence of corruption and other factors of a democratically functioning rule of law in 143 countries and jurisdictions covering 95% of the world’s population.

At what expense did Moldova fall?

In the section “Limitations of government powers” the country dropped 6 positions, to 75th place.

A decrease of 2 positions also occurred in the section “Civil Justice” (down to 86th place). In the chapter “Order and Security” the country dropped one position, to 38th place, as well as in the section “Fundamental Rights” – to 55th place.

In the sections “Criminal Justice” (76th place), “Open Government” (48th place) Moldova remained at last year’s places.

The country did not move up in any section of the rating.
