The program reaches out to both Moldovan and Ukrainian refugee children and the communities that host them.

With grant support, the project will ensure that children have access to protection services, medical care, inclusive education, drinking water and safe sanitation. The first phase has already assisted more than 100,000 children and parents and has laid the groundwork for further expansion of the program.

The new phase of the project focuses on expanding services to justice, early intervention for children with developmental delays, improving inclusiveness in schools and kindergartens, providing adolescents with health care, including mental and sexual health, and modernizing water and sanitation in early education facilities.

A key component will be the expansion of the Barnahus model, which provides comprehensive support for children affected by violence in a safe and child-friendly space. A new Barnahus center will be established in the central region of the country to complement the national network of three regional centers.

The project is implemented by UNICEF in partnership with the Government of Moldova, with support from Germany, and aims to ensure that every child – Moldovan or refugee – grows up in safety and has access to quality education, health care and social support.
