The main meeting of Michael Popshoy’s visit to Baku was his conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Azerbaijani side, Popşoi emphasized the friendly relations between the peoples of Moldova and Azerbaijan, noting that Chisinau always remembers and appreciates Baku’s support in difficult periods.
For his part, Aliyev thanked Popşoi for Moldova’s position. The sides discussed the development of bilateral ties, including the deepening of cooperation in the political, economic, trade and energy sectors, and emphasized the importance of mutual visits at different levels to strengthen the relations.
“During the meeting, Popşoi strongly condemned Iran’s attack on Azerbaijan and expressed solidarity with Baku. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack, reports News.Az.
In addition, Mikhail Popshoy held a meeting with Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis) Sahiba Gafarova. The sides discussed the work of parliamentary friendship groups, development of economic cooperation and joint initiatives in the field of regional security. Popşoi conveyed greetings from Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and invited Gafarova to visit Chisinau.
