“Milsami” defeated “Budućnost” and will continue LC participation

In the return match of the second qualifying round of the Conference League (CL), Milsami (Orhei) defeated Montenegrin club Budućnost with a score of 2:1 and on the sum of two meetings entered the next stage of the tournament, - reports Logos Press.

Milsami captain Radu Ginsar scored the decisive goal in the match against Budućnost

The first match, held on the pitch of Budućnost club in Podgorica (Montenegro), did not reveal the winner. The scoreboard after the final whistle remained 0:0, although the Moldovan club had an advantage in the number of shots on goal (11 vs. 8 for the opponents) and in possession of the ball (53% of the time). A team of referees from Ukraine headed by Denis Shurman worked at the meeting, his assistants were Victor Matyash and Victor Nizhnik. According to UEFA, more than 9.8 thousand people watched the match in the stands.

The return leg in Orhei attracted just over 2,800 spectators at the stadium with a capacity of 3,150 people. The meeting was officiated by Swiss specialists – the head of the referee team, Alessandro Dudik, and his assistants Pascal Hirzel and Nicolas Muller.

The visitors could have opened the scoring at the end of the first half, when Budućnost midfielder Marko Milickovic was awarded a penalty. The goalkeeper of the reigning Moldovan champions Emil Tymbur played reliably in the goal, and he did it twice – the referee awarded the 11-meter kick. The teams went to the locker rooms with equal chances to win.

All the main events in the match took place after the break. The score was opened by Budućnost striker Ivan Bojovic in the 55th minute, although initially an auto-goal was recorded by the hosts’ Ghanaian defender Frederick Takyi. Milsami needed 10 minutes to restore parity in the score – Vasile Jardan scored with a pass from midfielder Nabil Khali. It was close to extra time, but in the first minute of the second half, Red Eagles’ captain Radu Ginsar took a pass from Hali and sent the ball into Filip Domazetovic’s goal from the edge of the penalty area. Milsami’s Moroccan international Nabil Khali was the author of two goal assists.

The victory over “Budućnost” allowed Igor Pikuszczak’s wards to enter the third qualifying round of the LC, in which they will have to play two matches with the club “Virtus” (San Marino). The upcoming opponent “Milsami” got to the LC after losing to “Zrinjski” (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in the first qualifying round with a total score of 1:4. “Milsami” will host “Virtus” in Orhei on August 7, the return match will take place in San Marino on August 14.
