“It is difficult to name maximum salaries. They are very high, depending on experience and projects. Of course, there are salaries of 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 or even 30,000 euros, depending on the professional level. These are atypical salaries for the whole industry, but they do exist. The average pre-tax salary in the park is around 2,500 euros.
This is the average set last year. But the growth has continued since the park was established. We have a salary survey that estimates starting rates and maximum rates. The higher average salaries are around 6,000-7,000 euros, but there are those who earn more,” said Bzowy.
At the same time, she noted that the IT industry generates 5.7% of the country’s GDP, employs 25,000 people (about 4% of Moldova’s economically active population) and has 2,600 registered companies.
The services of the park’s companies are 89% export-oriented. The main markets are the European Union and the USA. However, there are also companies working with countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, totaling approximately 34 countries from all continents.
The first place in terms of the number of foreign companies registered in the park is occupied by Romania, having obtained this status this year. In terms of investment capital, companies from the United Kingdom and the United States are the leaders.
The number of women is constantly increasing. In the technological sectors of Moldova the share of women exceeded 30%, which is a very good indicator even in comparison with European countries. And among young people the ratio is almost 50/50. There are many programs dedicated to women. And their number continues to grow.
Moldovan IT companies are becoming more and more visible on regional and even global markets.
“We have a fintech company with its own product – a cell phone security solution, entirely created in Moldova, that informs private security within 3-5 minutes [after a device is stolen]. There is a crowdfunding startup Fagura, also present on the Romanian market. There is a product in the nutrition segment – Eating AI. Another company is developing a medical product with which surgeons can practice brain surgeries using 3D models. A medical technology startup with great potential has also appeared,” said Marina Bzovy.
MITP has fintech solutions developed in Moldova and used throughout the European Union and the United States. A Moldovan company has a product that entered the Guinness Book of Records – equipment for professional divers. There are also gaming companies with top games in the App Store, entirely developed in Moldova by small teams. There are teams working in the automotive sector: if you drive German cars, it is possible that part of the software is produced in Moldova.
There are registered companies working in the banking and healthcare sectors in the USA, Europe and the Gulf countries, as well as studios dealing with special effects and sound for Hollywood.
“We are very good at winemaking, but even better at technology, it’s just that the world doesn’t know enough about it yet,” summarized Marina Bzovy.
