Maia Sandu congratulated Tisza party leader Peter Magyar on his election victory.

“I congratulate Peter Magyar and the Tisza party on this convincing victory. Moldova looks forward to accelerating our partnership with Hungary – building on the friendship that unites our peoples – and working together for a stronger, united and sustainable Europe,” Sandu wrote.

Hungary’s parliamentary elections, held on April 12, 2026, were won by the opposition Tisza party led by 45-year-old Péter Magyar. The vote will give the party 138 seats out of 199 in parliament, giving it a constitutional majority.
