As noted by Vasyl Sharban, state secretary of the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the harvest of these two main field crops of the second group “will be slightly lower than last year”. At the same time, the forecast of the ministries regarding the potential harvest-2025 of sunflower was exactly in the middle of pessimistic and optimistic expert forecasts, announced on the eve of the harvesting campaign – 700 and 800 thousand tons. At the end of summer, grain market operators in Moldova estimated corn production at 1.3 million tons.
This year, according to NBS statistical data, Moldovan farmers allocated approximately equal areas for corn and sunflower – 414 thousand hectares each.
