According to the analytical Internet portal rubaltic.ru, the leader in wine shipments to Russia last year was Italy ($127.1 million). It is followed by Georgia ($120.2m) and Latvia ($90.6m).

It is noteworthy that Germany was second to Chile in terms of wine shipments to the Russian market in January-September 2025. Chilean companies imported $23.7 million worth of wine to Russia in nine months against German supplies of $17.5 million. As a result, Chile became the sixth major exporter of wine, ahead of Germany, which is already in seventh place.

In addition, wine from Spain ($11.5 mln) and Armenia ($9 mln) is in demand on the Russian market.

Earlier, the Russian government raised import duties on wines from unfriendly countries from 12.5% to 20%, but not less than $1.5 (€1.27) per liter. The measure was initially in effect from August 1 until the end of 2023, but was later extended. In August 2024, the Russian Cabinet of Ministers raised the duties to 25%, but not less than $2 (about 1.7 euros) per liter.

Lithuania was among the four largest beer suppliers to Russia in the first nine months of this year. It is reported that the total value of Lithuanian exports amounted to $9 million.

Moldova is not among the ten largest suppliers of wine to Russia.
