
According to 2024 data published by the energy analytics platform Ember, Nordic and Western European countries such as Iceland, Norway and Sweden register the highest values, ranging from 15,000 kWh to over 50,000 kWh per person. This reflects the higher living standards of citizens and industrial development, as well as the use of electricity for heating.
At the same time, most Central and Western European countries are in the average range of 5,000-10,000 kWh per person, while South-Eastern and Eastern Europe remain below these values.
The record holder is Iceland with 51.94 kWh. People like to keep the lights on in Norway (24.67 kWh) and Finland (15.45 kWh).
Austria consumes 7.9 kWh, sunny France 7.01 kWh, Czech Republic 6.21 kWh, Germany 5.94 kWh, Italy 5.32 kWh.
Citizens of our neighboring countries are not far behind Moldovans: in Romania, energy consumption is slightly higher than ours – 2.94 kWh, as well as in Ukraine – 2.33 kWh.
