The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) ruled that, in accordance with the provisions of Article 114, paragraph (4) of Law No. 108/2016 on Natural Gas, large and medium-sized non-domestic consumers are obliged to choose a supplier in the competitive market and conclude a valid contract within a set period of time.
At this stage, out of 204 large consumers, only 82 have completed the procedure of concluding a contract on the free market.
ANRE warns that starting from April 1, 2026, large non-household consumers who do not have a valid contract with a supplier on the free market may be left without natural gas supply. The absence of a contract, according to the legal provisions, may result in the interruption of supplies, which may affect the functioning of economic activities and the continuity of production processes of the companies concerned.
