Kazakh grain exports through the Baltic countries are subsidized by the state. The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan expects to turn this route into a permanent corridor with predictable tariffs and shipment schedule.
Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan plans to use the Baltic direction as a key hub for grain exports to Northern Europe and Africa, as well as the Middle East. This became known during the working trip of Vice-Minister Yermek Kenzhekhanuly to Estonia.
Also, the Kazakh delegation examined the terminals of the ports of Tallinn and Sillamae to assess the possibility of establishing regular supplies of grain and oilseeds.
“For Kazakhstan, the port of Muuga is an important link in the formation of sustainable export routes. We are interested in the systematic development of this transport corridor and the creation of predictable conditions for the supply of Kazakhstani agricultural products,” Forbes Kazakhstan quoted the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan as saying.
