Jungietu announced inspections at Termoelectrica SA following an investigation into inflated prices

This was announced by Minister Dorin Jungietu at a press conference after the government meeting. The reaction came two weeks after the publication of the NordNews editorial board’s investigation into the 18 times inflated prices, nordnews.md reported

– Checks are being carried out and the Press Ethics Council has also been notified to carry out additional checks, but the process is already underway.

– Do you know about that letter from Thermoelectric employees?

– I learned about it from the press. The letter was not addressed to the ministry,” said Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu.

Termoelectrica SA is the largest state-owned heat supply company in Moldova, providing services to half a million residents of Chisinau municipality.

Thermoelectrica tender – TurboEnergyPower

In an investigation about the above-mentioned tender, the NordNews editorial board presented to the public the possible damage caused to the energy system of the Republic of Moldova during the purchase of equipment for the Central Electric Heating Plant (CET) within Termoelectrica SA for over 26 million lei.

Three companies participated in the tender: ABS SRL, HORUS SRL and TurboEnergyPower SRL. TurboEnergyPower SRL was recognized as the winner, the head of the company is Victor Slivinschi.

According to NordNews sources in Termoelectrica JSC, the difference between the contract amount and the real market value of the equipment amounts to almost 12 million lei. According to the commercial analysis conducted by NordNews, the price difference varies from 2 to 4, 8, 12 and even 18 times compared to the market prices.

Termoelectrica JSC called this analysis incorrect in its official reply of July 22, arguing that the equipment cannot be considered separately, but only as an integral part of the whole system to be installed.

For this reason, the company refused to comment on the price difference for each element separately.

Letters from employees of Termoelectrica a.s.

The Minister of Energy was probably referring to the letter published on July 7, addressed to the management of the Republic of Moldova, in which three department heads complained about the “Stalinist” management style. The NordNews editorial board prepared an investigation into the matter: the department heads accused General Director Iurie Razlovan of gender discrimination, psychological pressure and mismanagement.

The document was sent to Prime Minister Dorin Receanu, Energy Minister Dorin Jungiet, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Alexei Buz, Director of the Public Property Agency Roman Cojuhar, as well as to the State Labor Inspectorate. According to the official response provided to NordNews on July 15, State Secretary Carolina Novak specified that the appeal was forwarded to the competent authorities in accordance with Article 74 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Moldova No. 116/2018.

Later, on August 1, NordNews received an anonymous letter from a group of members of the trade union committee of Termoelectrica SA, accusing director Iurie Razlovan of exerting pressure on employees and engaging in political activities.

On May 27, NordNews also published a story reporting on the toxic work atmosphere, constant pressure, abuse of disciplinary actions and a culture of intimidation established by the current general director.
