The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said that Japanese authorities and partners are currently negotiating a new line of financing to ensure farmers have access to modern machinery.
Minister Ludmila Catlabuga and a JICA delegation led by Senior Director Takashi Hibino discussed in Chisinau the steps needed to launch the new phase of the program.
Under the MAME project, farmers have already benefited from favorable installment payment mechanisms for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment (tractors, combines, planters, harrows, harvesting and post-harvest equipment, trailers and plant protection equipment).
A new phase of the MAME program is planned to be launched in the first half of 2026. It envisages the development of a financial product on favorable terms: with low interest rates, extended repayment period and simplified access procedures. In addition, it is planned to expand financing for climate risk reduction equipment, especially for horticulture.
