The portal will ensure a complete transition to an electronic format for the registration and recording of sick leave. Today they are issued on paper and in different IT solutions. When the concept is implemented, certificates of temporary incapacity for work will be issued exclusively in digital form, with a qualified electronic signature, a unique identifier and a QR code for authentication.
Earlier, the government intended to launch the portal of online sick leave already from March this year. So far, it is about the readiness of the concept of this IT solution. It should be tested by the end of this year to guarantee the quality and functionality of the process.
The launch of the system will ensure data exchange between health institutions, beneficiary public bodies and service providers related to administrative processes.
Digitization should reduce abuses in the issuance of temporary incapacity for work documents, as well as simplify record-keeping procedures. The sheet will be issued by the attending physician in electronic format only. It will be available online, but it will be possible to print it out.
The doctor will independently determine the temporary incapacity for work and will manage the process of issuing, extending and finalizing the sick leave. This will reduce appeals and visits of citizens to medical institutions. The system will also provide online access to their own data and sick leave history without the need to submit paper certificates. They will be able to receive notifications on the status of the sick leave.
The system will also provide for automatic notification of the employer of an employee’s temporary incapacity for work in real time.
The certificate will be issued in accordance with personal data protection standards.
