
Representatives of farmers’ organizations do not belittle the usefulness of financing the mentioned tasks at the expense of European soft loans and, even more so, grants. No one denies the fact that fruit growing in the absence of modern irrigation methods and systems is virtually guaranteed under- or even lost yields. Even in field farming – that is, production of such crops as sugar beets, corn, soybeans, etc. – irrigation under conditions of radical changes in irrigation methods and systems is virtually guaranteed. – irrigation under conditions of radical climate change is becoming the “new normal”. Experts also agree that windbreaks are an important factor in drought mitigation.
At the same time, along with these measures, Moldovan agrarians are very hopeful for preferential financing from donor resources for other extremely important tasks of agriculture in RM. For example, the most frequently mentioned is the financing of the process of transition from the classical farming system to the resource-saving systems “mini-till” and “no-till”. As well as assistance in popularizing and increasing commercial interest of farmers in the production of such drought-resistant crops as sorghum and cover crops.
Earlier, Logos Press reported that the Forța Fermierilor Association strongly criticized the Moldovan Government’s choice of priorities for the agricultural sector to be included in the 2025-2027 Growth Plan.
