According to the capital’s mayor’s office, the development of public transport in recent years is due to significant investments from the municipal budget. Since 2021, a total of 624.6 million lei has been allocated. The money was used to buy 367 transport units, including 184 buses and 183 trolleybuses. Thanks to this, it was possible to open 12 new bus and trolleybus routes, to increase the number of daily transport units, to expand and adjust the route network in order to ensure a wider connection between the sectors and suburbs of the municipality.
Today, public passenger transport services in the capital are provided on 35 bus routes (28 of which are suburban) and 38 trolleybus routes (4 of which also cover the suburbs of Truseni, Durlesti, Staucieni and Bubueci). Thus, on August 26, a new municipal bus route was launched, connecting the Riscaniuca sector of Chisinau with the suburb of Cricova.
Municipal investments in the development of urban mobility were also aimed at creating special lanes for public transport and for alternative transport, launching applications to track the movement of buses and trolleybuses on the route and the time of arrival at stops.
