
In terms of new investments attracted, the leader is traditionally FEZ Balti, which attracted $53.9 million in 2024, followed by Ungheni-Business with $19.6 million and Expo-Business-Chișinau with $13.4 million. FEZ Vulcanesti invested $6 million, while both FEZs in Taraclia district invested $3.3 million each.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the share of FEZs in the total volume of investments in the Moldovan economy in 2024 amounted to 1.8% of total private capital (minus 1 p. p.).
The ministry noted that the total volume of investments in Moldovan FEZs since the beginning of their creation reached $618.5 million, increasing by 5.8% over the year. This is the lowest annual dynamics of the total volume of investments in FEZs over the last 10 years.
At the same time, FEZ “Balti” attracted 54% of investments ($333.6 mln). Also among the three largest in terms of investments were “Ungheni-Business” – $121 and “Expo-Business-Chișinau” – $83 million.
The other three free zones accounted for about 13% of the capital raised.
At the end of 2024, Moldova’s six FEZs had 256 residents. During the year, six new resident companies with external commercial activities appeared in this sector.
