Individuals may purchase SS on a monthly basis

Earlier such issues were quarterly. According to the Ministry of Finance, this change gives investors (individuals) an opportunity to participate in trades with GS on a permanent basis and more flexibility in managing their financial resources. During the second quarter of 2025, three issuances of SS placements are planned: April 21-30, May 19-28 and June 16-25.

The second change is that the maturities of SS will be diversified. Along with the existing 2-year fixed rate bonds, 3-year fixed rate securities will be offered for the first time in April. The issue volume and rates will be announced by the Ministry of Finance 10-7 days before the start of the issue.

According to the eVMS.md platform, in the period from December 6 to December 15, 2024, the volume of investments in state bonds within the subscription amounted to 150.9 million lei. It exceeded more than three times the initially set volume of the issue. Citizens invested 104.5 million lei in government bonds with a maturity of 1 year and an interest rate of 6.85% and 46.3 million lei in government bonds with a maturity of 2 years and an interest rate of 7%.

It should be reminded that income from interest on government securities is not subject to taxation.
