
Such data is contained in a new study by Opendatabot. The “Dzerkalo Tyzhnya” weekly quoted the data of this analysis as saying that 250,209 IEs (individual entrepreneurs) closed in Ukraine in the first 11 months of 2025.
At the same time, the publication specifies that every eighth entrepreneur who closed in 2025, worked in Kiev: 32,469 individuals. Dnipropetrovsk region is in second place in terms of closure – 22 645 entrepreneurs ceased their activities last year. Small businesses in Kharkiv (20,481), Odesa (18,714) and Lviv (16,521) regions closed with a small gap.
By type of activity, the most vulnerable last year were entrepreneurs engaged in retail trade – they accounted for a third of closures (77,705). They have been operating for less than three years on average. Another 16,909 IEs in wholesale trade stopped their work during the year – they have been working for a little over a year. In general, the niche of trade alone accounts for almost half of the closures.
By a wide margin, the second in the number of terminations were IT workers – 28,668 or every ninth entrepreneur who closed last year, experts inform.
Long-livers in Ukraine were IEs engaged in warehousing – they work on average more than 6 years. Slightly less – 5 years and 11 months – work entrepreneurs in the field of real estate transactions. The bottom three are businesses in the repair of equipment, in particular, household appliances: 5 years and 9 months.
At the same time, courier IEs are the least survivable – on average, they close after six months.
IEs in the field of administrative and auxiliary office activities survive for 9 months. Entrepreneurs in the aforementioned wholesale trade and teachers have been operating for a little over a year.
