
Every seventh transaction in Spain provided foreigners. Over the year they bought almost 97 thousand houses. Due to the shortage of new buildings, the main volume of transactions came to the secondary market.
According to Prian, those who took loans for housing, provided record amounts. Thus, the average mortgage rose to 171 thousand euros. At the same time, the debt load is not evenly distributed. In Madrid and the Balearic Islands for mortgage payments spend from 43% to 55% of the average salary, while in the regions of Murcia and Extremadura this figure does not exceed 25%.
According to the source, the average cost of a square meter in the country has reached 2354 euros. In the centers of the largest cities – Madrid and Barcelona – prices exceed 5283 per square meter.
