According to the FT, Musk expects to raise up to $50 billion at a valuation of about $1.5 trillion and make SpaceX the largest IPO in history. The past record belongs to the oil company Saudi Aramco: it raised $29 billion in 2019
SpaceX has already invited Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley for key roles in the deal, the newspaper said.
Some bankers and investors emphasized the tight timeline for this IPO and noted that the company has yet to file an initial registration form for the new securities – with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This is necessary to notify the regulator of the intention to offer shares and organize their promotion.
The source noted that any IPO depends on market conditions and sentiment. Now they have become more unpredictable amid frequent attempts by US President Donald Trump to influence the policy of the central bank, the Federal Reserve.
