IFAD loans have become cheaper for farmers

The new credit conditions are valid from September 22, 2025. The UCIP Joint Bureau for IFAD Project Implementation in RM reminds that lending under this program is beneficial to farmers not only due to the reduced rate, but also due to the absence of indirect costs (commissions) and tax benefits (in particular, VAT exemption of goods and services in the implementation of projects).

In the first half of 2025, IFAD provided financial support to 46 rural entrepreneurs implementing projects with investments amounting to 43.8 million lei. Of this amount, 43% went to planting perennial plantations: purchasing seedlings, installing irrigation systems and anti-hail nets. Another 31% of the funds were used to buy agricultural machinery, equip greenhouses and provide farms with fuel, fertilizers and seeds. The remaining 26% of funds were used for the development of livestock breeding – purchase of breeding animals, milking systems and feeding equipment, as well as for construction works on farms.
