As notes RBC-Ukraine, Orban is against joining the euro zone because he considers it tantamount to “tying Hungary to a sinking ship.”
The Hungarian prime minister emphasized that the EU requires a “radical transformation” over the next two years to remain viable. If this does not happen, he said, the union risks turning into a “speedy partition” in history or a “transitory page.”
According to Orbán, joining the eurozone under the current conditions could put Hungary at risk of becoming dependent on the EU’s unstable economic situation. He believes the country should carefully assess all risks before tying its financial and economic fate to the union, which he says needs deep reform.
