Health insurance revenues increased by 12%

In the first two months of 2026, the National Health Insurance Company accumulated revenues of more than 1.8 billion lei in the compulsory health insurance funds (CHIF). Compared to the same period of 2025, they increased by 195 million lei (or 12%).

According to the ministry, traditionally, the main part of the revenues is formed at the expense of compulsory health insurance contributions, which are paid as a percentage of the salary. In January-February, they increased by 144 million lei compared to the same period last year and reached 1.5 billion lei.

MHI contributions, paid in a fixed amount, increased by 46 million lei. Their total amount amounted to about 212 million lei.

Other revenues received by the MHIF, including contributions paid by residents of IT parks, exceeded 54 million lei. This is by 4 million lei more compared to the same period last year.

The National Health Insurance Company reminds that until March 31, 2026, those obliged to be individually insured in the MHI system can still benefit from a discount when buying a medical policy. Now its cost is 2527 lei, and starting from April 1, 2026, it will be necessary to pay the full amount. For the current year it amounts to 12,636 lei.
