According to Mold-Street, at the end of last week it received from the Civil Aviation Administration the official permission for the ground maintenance of planes at Chisinau International Airport.
The company was founded by Romanian entrepreneur Ciprian-Mihail Oprescu, who also owns a handling company at Brasov Airport.
Kronaero will be in charge of pre and post flight support at Chisinau airport: passenger boarding and disembarkation, luggage transportation, aircraft maintenance at the parking lot and others.
The company has already invested 10 million euros in the launch of its operations in the capital of Moldova. The company has the necessary equipment, including modern Cobus buses and TLD equipment, without which it would be impossible to obtain certification. Some of the equipment is new, some of it is used, but not more than five years old, which is not an obstacle to certification.
Kronaero plans to start operations on August 1, 2025. Its first client will be a large low-cost carrier Wizz Air, which occupies about 20% of the passenger transportation market in Moldova.
So far, ground handling at Chisinau airport has been mainly handled by Aeroport Handling. Its activity is associated with the fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor. It remained the main player even after the termination of the contract with Avia Invest in 2023.
The entry of a new company into the market may stimulate competition and attract new investments in flight safety.
