This is the fourth round of applications for funding for livestock producers under the AGGRI project. During the previous rounds, 16 applications were received (and approved by the end of the first half of 2025) from Moldovan livestock sector actors. These projects envisage investments of over $17 million, with an AGGRI grant component of $7.8 million. Three more applications for livestock business projects with investments of over $5 million and grants of over $2 million are in the process of acceptance and implementation.
AGGRI’s Investing for Governance, Growth and Sustainability in Agriculture project is initiated in 2023 and will be implemented through 2029. It is financed by the World Bank, the project budget is about $55 million. About 21 million of this amount will be provided to agricultural producers in the form of grants to stimulate investments (own contribution of the beneficiary – 50%) in the development of animal husbandry: creation of new or modernization of existing farms, development of infrastructure for milk and meat processing, introduction of energy efficient technologies, including biogas and photovoltaics.
The AGGRI project is implemented by UCIMPA, the Joint Bureau for the Implementation of WB Projects in Agriculture, subordinated to the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. Olga Sainchuk became its new executive director at the beginning of September this year.
