The decision was made to support local farmers “in the face of a regional market dominated by surplus produce and low prices”.
“This measure is a continuation of the previously applied one and is aimed at maintaining the stability of the internal agricultural market of RM in the context of persisting difficulties in the agri-food sector,” MAIA Minister Ludmila Catlabuga said.
According to the ministry’s statement, according to the survey data, at the beginning of June 2025, wheat, corn and sunflower crops are in good condition, with dynamics appropriate for the period. The condition of wheat fields indicates high production potential, and corn and sunflower crops have produced good, promising sprouts. Similar trends are noted in neighboring states, where natural conditions in spring were also favorable for winter and spring crops plantations.
Earlier, Logos Press reported that four associations of farmers, specializing mainly in the production of field crops, insisted on the extension of the licensing regime for imports of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine. They insisted that rapeseed should also be included in the list of crops for licensed (and, in fact, blocked) imports. Judging by the MAIA release, the expansion of the list did not take place.
