The corresponding draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers was developed by the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The document has been put up for public discussions until June 19. Representatives of the enterprises belonging to the Union of Sugar Producers of Moldova UPZM believe that the chances of its approval by the government are high.

The technological package (seeds or seeds plus several obligatory pesticides – depending on the type of cultivation technology and the company supplying the resources) for sowing sugar beet is a rather expensive resource, the costs can be about 400-600 euros/ha.

Of the approximately 6.9 thousand hectares of sugar beet plantations damaged by April frosts, about 6.8 thousand hectares have been reseeded. In total, according to expert estimates, the sowing of this crop for the harvest-2025 in the Republic of Moldova is about 11 thousand hectares.
