This statement was made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after talks with his ruling coalition partners on January 28. “Accession on January 1, 2027 is out of the question. It is impossible,” quotes Merz’s words “Ukrainska Pravda”.
On the other hand, many member states of the European Union would like Ukraine to become a member of the EU in 2027. About this stated European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on January 29.
European Pravda noted in this connection that the European Commission is currently working to speed up Ukraine’s integration into the EU, but to a large extent its success depends on plans for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine and consolidation of the member states’ position on its membership.
“Marta Kos wants Ukraine to become an EU member in 2027, but a lot of work must precede this,” the publication states.
