According to the price comparison portal benzinpreise.de, fuel prices have exceeded 2.5 euros at some gas stations. The All-German Automobile Club (ADAC) noted that although prices have fallen slightly at many gas stations after the morning peak, they will continue to rise in the long term.
There will be noshortage , but prices are going up
Since the escalation of the conflict over Iran began, oil and fuel prices have been rising steadily. The Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes, plays a key role. Any disruptions in its operation could lead to an increase in energy prices. Authorities in Tehran have previously declared “full control” over this crucial shipping route and threatened to attack any vessels attempting to pass through the strait.
The German Fuel and Energy Industry Association also forecast disruptions in fuel supplies from the Middle East, especially diesel. However, the association stressed that Germany is not expected to face a shortage of gasoline, diesel, as well as fuel oil and jet fuel supplies.
It should be noted that Germany buys crude oil from about 30 countries, and its main suppliers are Norway, the United States, Libya, Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.
