Thus, according to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), diesel fuel fell in price by 2.54 lei/liter, dropping below 19 lei/liter, while gasoline fell by 1.42 lei/liter, reaching 22 lei/liter. These are record low levels for these oil products over the last almost four years.
The last time similar prices for both products were observed was on January 14, 2022, before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, ANRE noted.
The agency notes that the downward price trend is driven by the decline in international crude oil prices, which recently briefly dipped below the US$60/bbl level before returning to around US$62/bbl in recent days.
Based on the price calculation methodology used, NRATI set the following maximum values for major fuels for the days before New Year:
– 21.97 lei/liter – for COR 95 gasoline (- 10 bani);
– 18.67 lei/liter – for standard diesel fuel (- 06 bani).
The regulator will continue to monitor the situation on international oil exchanges, ensuring the fairness of prices and their timely adjustment, ANRE press release said.
