
This provides for amendments to the current legislation, which the Parliament adopted in the first reading. The bill was drafted to harmonize the functioning of investment platforms with the new Customs Code adopted in 2021 and coming into force on January 1, 2024.
In addition, the proposed legislative provisions aim to differentiate activities for residents registered before and after the new Customs Code comes into force. Similarly, a unified regime of scheduled inspections for FEZ residents is proposed.
There are 6 free economic zones in Moldova, in which at the beginning of this year 256 residents were registered, investing a total of more than $618.5 million. At the same time, the total number of working residents exceeds 14 thousand people, and the total amount of taxes and other mandatory payments is 1.16 billion lei.
