The organization’s press release notes that on January 29, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) sent the above-mentioned document of more than 270 pages to growers’ organizations for review. It took MAIA nearly two years to develop it. At the same time, the associations were given less than a week to analyze and submit proposals for potential inclusion in the strategy. “The deadline for feedback is only 5 days!”, says Alexandru Bădăreu, executive director of Forța Fermierilor.
No subsidies for cereals and oil seeds
The Forța Fermierilor Association also disagrees that the subsidy program “deliberately ignores the most important sector of Moldovan agriculture”.
The grain and oilseeds sector generates more than 11 billion lei annually for the country through exports alone. At the same time, sunflower, wheat and rapeseed are among the top 5 most exported Moldovan goods, both in physical and financial terms.
The amount of subsidies proposed by MAIA in the new subsidies regulation is only 62.5 million lei per year – and this only starting from 2027. And for all subsectors related to cereals and oilseeds, including hemp and tobacco. “This is a negligible amount,” Forța Fermierilor believes.
The association demands an extension of consultations for at least 10 days and calls for MAIA head Ludmila Catlabuga to resign.
