The FMF’s professional division said it prevented the manipulation of match results by informing and instructing referees, coaches and players in Super League, Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and in the technical staffs of national teams, including the national team. Preventive investigation processes have been initiated for suspicious matches. Which specific matches came to the attention of the structure is not reported.
The FMF’s cooperation, including the exchange of information and experience with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), has had a significant impact on the fight against match-fixing. As part of the cooperation, the federation’s decision-makers were trained at the UEFA Academy under the “Fight The Fix” program, which includes an educational and training course for match-fixing professionals aimed at improving skills in investigating and prosecuting offenders, covering detection, intelligence gathering and prosecution, as well as cooperation with law enforcement agencies to preserve the integrity of soccer associations.
Over the past year, the FMF has sought the services of international experts in the betting business and analyzing what is happening on the pitch. The federation has received reports from Genius Sports, Sportradar, Starlizard and studied them. According to FMF assurances, in parallel, there was continuous cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
The Football Federation reported that during the year it investigated two cases that had an impact on the integrity of the representatives of the professional community. Assistance was also provided to the referees’ commission on issues of integrity and the fight against match-fixing.
FMF called on all clubs, officials, players, referees, representatives of the federation to comply with the provisions of the disciplinary code, which provides for the protection of national and international competitions, and to send any information about acts of corruption, match-fixing and betting to the e-mail address [email protected] on condition of anonymity.
Logos Press last year reported on the suspicious nature of the Super League match between Zimbru and Spartanii-Sportul (2:3). A number of moments both on the field (ambiguity of players’ actions in situations that led to goals for Zimbru) and off it (sharp dynamics of bookmakers’ live quotes during the match) allowed fans and other observers to suspect the match of contractual nature. There has been no official reaction from the FMF so far.
